Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) Status in Nepal

This contribution presents the current distribution of snow leopards across Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes and summarises the proposed national IUCN Red List range map. It reviews findings from the recent nationwide population assessment and other published studies to describe current understanding of population status. The chapter outlines key threats, including livestock-related conflict, habitat change, infrastructure development, and climate pressures. It concludes with an overview of current conservation efforts in Nepal.
