Butterflies of Baghmara Buffer Zone Community Forest

Abstract

We assessed the species richness of butterflies in Baghmara Buffer Zone Community Forest, Chitwan, Nepal using Pollard walk and Checklist method. Combining both methods, we recorded 72 species of butterflies in 58 genera belonging to 5 families. Among them, the family Nymphalidae represented the highest number of species (n=32, 44.44%) followed by Pieridae (n=13, 18.06%), Hesperiidae (n=12, 16.67%), Lycaenidae (n=11, 15.28%) and Papilionidae (n=4, 5.56%).
