A team from the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) recently conducted a field mission to Kupinde Lake in Salyan district to support the enhancement and implementation of the lake’s management plan under the Climate Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Project (CRLLP).
During the visit, the team carried out an on-site reconnaissance survey of the lake ecosystem and held consultation meetings with key local and provincial stakeholders. Discussions were conducted with officials from the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Trade, Forest and Environment (MoITFE) of Karnali Province in Surkhet, Bangad Kupinde Municipality in Sallibajar, and the Divisional Forest Office in Salyan.
The team also interacted directly with local community members, hoteliers, and visiting pilgrims. Kupinde Lake holds immense potential for sustainable ecotourism and conservation-driven local development. NTNC remains fully committed to collaborating with local governments, community institutions, and provincial authorities to finalize a robust, climate-resilient management plan and ensure its effective on-site implementation.
