The Prime Minister of Nepal has appointed Honorable Minister Gita Chaudhary, Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE), as the Chairperson of the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC).
A welcome program was organized where NTNC Director Dr. Chiranjibi Prasad Pokheral, along with NTNC officials, formally welcomed Honorable Chairperson. The program was attended by Dr. Govinda Prasad Sharma, Secretary of MoFE; Dr. Buddi Sagar Paudel, Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC); and other officials from the MoFE and the Department.
Dr. Pokheral provided a comprehensive overview of the National Trust for Nature Conservation, highlighting key initiatives undertaken, notable achievements, and priority areas going forward. The briefing underscored the organization's pivotal role in advancing nature conservation and biodiversity protection across Nepal.
Speaking on the occasion Secretary of MoFE Dr. Sharma reaffirmed that the Ministry remains fully committed to strengthening NTNC's role and ensuring that its work aligns with national conservation policies and environmental priorities. Likewise, Dr. Paudel highlighted NTNC's role and specialized expertise in wildlife research, rescue, and management, and expressed confidence in continuing close coordination between the Department and NTNC in the days ahead.
Honorable Chairperson expressed her appreciation for the expertise and invaluable support NTNC has consistently provided to the Government of Nepal. She encouraged the NTNC team to embrace digitization as a transformative tool, to empower local communities and bring meaningful, lasting positive change to people's lives, and to continue working in close coordination with the Nepal government to achieve shared conservation goals.
