A memorandum of understanding was signed today between NTNC and the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) to establish a working relationship between the two institutions to undertake mutually collaborative academic and research initiatives in science and technology. 

The emphasis is on advancing partnership and collaboration on multidisciplinary programs and activities in biodiversity and climate change science, research, training and knowledge collaboration.

The MoU underscores collaborating knowledge and competencies with regard to conservation and sustainable use of forests, conservation and bioprospecting of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) and medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs), wildlife management, mountain economy and nature tourism, climate change adaptation and mitigation, wildfire management, water resources and environmental governance, long-term socio-ecological monitoring, climate change impacts on biodiversity and peoples' livelihoods.

It also prioritizes developing a biodiversity conservation database management system to add value to the the two institutions' ongoing programs while exploring potentials for joint multidisciplinary collaborative scientific research on protected area systems. 

The MoU signing was done between the Member-Secretary of NTNC Dr. Naresh Subedi and the Secretary of NAST Dr. Eng. Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, with the Vice-Chancellor of NAST Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba presiding.
